Most dance classes teach you a dance. A sequence, a routine, a set of steps to repeat until they feel natural. That's one way to learn.
At Professor Jitterbug's School of Dance, the goal is different. The goal is to teach you how to dance - how to listen to music, connect with a partner, and move the way the moment asks you to. That skill doesn't expire when the song changes or the partner changes. It goes everywhere you go.
Tuesday nights we build it through vintage swing. Wednesday nights we build it through social partner dancing. Both nights, the floor is open to anyone willing to show up and try.
So, join us when you're ready.
Both Tuesday & Wednesday classes are at My Roots Dance Studio, 6070 S. Fort Apache Rd #200, Las Vegas, NV 89148.

No partner or experience necessary. Experienced partners welcome.
Swing Dance 101
Tuesdays, 6:15p - 7:15p (60 mins), $10

Every swing dancer started somewhere. This is somewhere.
Swing Dance 101 is a weekly drop-in class designed for anyone who wants to learn how to swing dance. No partner, no experience, and no prior dance training required.
Each class covers the foundations that make swing dancing work: rhythm and movement, lead and follow, and the basic steps, moves, and stylings of vintage swing dances like the Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Charleston, Balboa, East Coast Swing, and more.
.
You won’t just learn choreography. You’ll learn how to actually dance: how to listen to music, connect with a partner, and move the way the music asks you to. Those are skills that transfer to every swing style you’ll ever encounter.
The class runs every Tuesday from 6:15 to 7:15p. Doors open at 6:00p. Drop in any week for $10. No registration required. Experienced partners are always welcome.
The dance floor is open. Come join us.
Swing Dance Series
Tuesdays, 7:15p - 8:30p (75 mins)
Turn your hobby into a skill. Turn your skill into a passion.
Every great dancer started somewhere. This is where they went next.
The 4-Week Vintage Swing Dance Series is a progressive class dedicated to a single vintage swing style or concept. Over four consecutive Tuesday nights (staring the first Tuesday of each month), you'll explore, develop, and deepen your connection to the music and a partner.
Each month brings a new style: Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Charleston, Balboa, and more. Each cycle builds on the last, giving you a growing vocabulary of movement that's rooted in history.
This isn't a drop-in class with a different theme each week. It's a structured progression of a style or concept. The 4-Week Series is designed for dancers who are comfortable with the basics, whether that means you've been dancing for years or you just finished your first few weeks of Swing Dance 101. If you've never taken a dance class before, you're still welcome — and attending Swing Dance 101 at 6:15p on the same night is a great way to build your foundation before the Series begins.
By the way, series students attend Swing Dance 101 free.
PRICING
$75/individual per series
$140/couple per series
$25/week
Dancers who drop in during weeks 1 or 2 may continue attending weeks 3 and 4 at the same drop-in rate. New drop-ins are not accepted in weeks 3 or 4.
No pre-registration required, just show up on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:15p.

Social Dance 101
Wednesdays, 6:15p - 7:15p (60 mins), $10
Learn to dance to (almost) any song with (almost) anyone!

Most dance classes teach you a dance.
This one teaches you how to dance.
Social Dance 101 is a weekly drop-in class built around a simple but powerful idea: that anyone can learn to move to any song with any partner.
Using the RAFTS framework — a structured approach to rhythm, connection, and movement developed by Professor Jitterbug over 25 years of teaching — this class gives you the tools to find your footing in any song the music throws at you. Not a routine. Not choreography. A genuine, transferable skill.
Every class is part instruction, part exploration, part happy accident. You’ll try things that don’t work, discover things that do, and leave with a vocabulary of movement that belongs entirely to you.
No partner required as we rotate throughout class so everyone dances with everyone.
No experience required and No style prerequisite.
No wrong answers.
Just you, a partner, and whatever the music is asking for.
One hour. Ten dollars. Your first dance starts Wednesday.
Two Partners. One Song, Infinite Dances.
Social Dance 201
Wednesdays, 7:15p - 8:45p (75 mins), $20
What does a dance look like when no one tells us what dance to do?
Social Dance 201 is the application class. Every week, a song is chosen at random and using the tools of social partner dancing, we'll create a dance together. Unscripted & unrehearsed. Creating together from the song in that moment - a song nobody in the room has prepared for (including your Professor).
This is where the foundations of social dancing — rhythm, connection, lead and follow — stop being exercises and start being art.
No two classes are the same because no two songs are the same. Every week is a new challenge, a new partner, a new shuffle, and a new opportunity to surprise yourself with what you’re capable of.
Social Dance 101 is encouraged before joining 201 but not required.
If you have some social dance experience and a willingness to be thrown in at the deep end, you’ll find your footing fast.
Partners rotate throughout class so you’ll work with everyone in the room with every pairing a different conversation and every song a different problem to solve together.
Take both Social Dance 101 & Social Dance 102 for $25.

Curious what Social Dance 201 sounds like? The music is as unpredictable as the class.
Each week, someone in the room picks a number between one and seven. We hit shuffle that many times. Whatever song we land on is our song for the night.
